Since 1998 Philharmonia Bulgarica has been the successor of the famous recording orchestra with the same name (1967-1991).

Philharmonia Bulgarica (also known as Sofia Metropolitan Orchestra) and  its choir work with some of the best soloists, who perform in the most prestigious concert halls and opera theatres in the world -  Jose Carreras, Vesselina Kasarova, Albano Carrisi,  Ghena Dimitrova, Stefan Milenkovich, Mario Hossen, Adam Wodnicki, Joseph Banowetz, Valya Dervenska to name  just a few. Composers, such as Conrad Pope, Kevin Kaska, Don Ray, Robert Drasnin, Patrick Cassidy, John Califra, William Richter, Chris Mangum, Vincent Gillioz, Derek Gleeson prefer to record their works with this orchestra.
